Drunken assault by lawyer with hockey stick excused. The moral of the story being: if you commit a criminal assault whilst drunk AND afterwards show 'genuine remorse and demonstrably turn your life around' then the Bar Standards Board Disciplinary Council will not disbar you ... and moreover if, as in this case, the defendant is also a qualified Solicitor the Solicitors Regulation Authority will not strike you off either. We'll drink to that!'
